Our Radiant Selves

The vertical format of the tall paintings that began this series relate to the body. They suggest a full-length mirror where we might see ourselves reflected in all our complexity and possibility.

Layers suggest depths and richness, while scrubbing back pigment brings the past into the present moment. These techniques also allow me to create a startling luminosity—a sense that the painting radiates light—the way wondrous moments illuminate our lives, and the way our own radiance sometimes shines through.
